Looking Back
They
say time flies when your having fun. -- and I can only add a hearty
"amen" to that. April 1st. (no foolin') thirty years ago, marked the
beginning of three decades filled with fun (certainly), but also worry,
change, fulfillment, disappointments -- a rollercoaster ride I wouldn't
change if I could. (well may be a few things)
If it's true that "things get better with
age" then I'm approaching magnificent - and so are you, if you can
remember the O.V. in 1978. The bar was where the game room is now
located. The present bar (less five feet or so of an addition) was the
"snowmobile room" and had black booths around the perimeter. It was
entered from a door located where the waitress station is. Red
upholstered booths and large bucket red chairs on rollers (many can
attest to the hazard this presented) adorned the main dining room. The
smaller back dining area had "beautiful" green booths.
Our Prime Bib Smorgasbord was $7.95. A Lobster Crab Legs & Shrimp Dinner was $11.00, and Brunch $4.25. Cooks wages were high, $3.50 an hour, and dishwashers $2.60. I wasn't even on the payroll.
So, We're having a party and YOU are
invited!
